TREASURER ESSENTIAL SERVICES While Gilpin County Government nonessential services are closed, there are several essential services still being provided.

The Treasurer’s office is closed but Treasurer, Mary Lorenz, is working from home. If you have questions or need help please email her at mlorenz@gilpincounty.org She is checking her email daily.

Governor Polis’ Executive Order D 2020 012 allows County Treasurers to waive delinquent interest for delinquent tax payments. This executive order expires April 20, 2020. Taxpayers who cannot pay in full on/or before April 30th now have the option to split their payment. Under the current executive order, a taxpayer can pay half of what they owe by April 20th without penalty and the other half by June 15th. To do this you must pay by check NOT on the website.

To pay your property taxes you can:

Mail your checks to Gilpin County Treasurer, PO Box 368, Central City, CO 80427. Someone is picking up mail a couple times a week and the payments will be receipted in. If you want a receipt mailed please include a self-addressed stamped envelope. OR…

The Clerk has allowed us to use their ballot drop box located in the front of the Court House. You can drop your tax payment in this box – please put it in an envelope – checks only no cash please. Go to the Gilpin County Website www.gilpincounty.org; Click on Departments, Click on Treasurer, Click on link “Pay or View Property Tax” You can pay by electronic check and the fee is $2 and you can pay by Credit Card and the fee is 2.9%. If you are late paying, interest will be charged.

  • Appointments are to be scheduled online only, unless otherwise stated in the scheduling system
  • All individuals will be called by their confirmed appointment
  • Appointments will be forfeited if you are more than 5 minutes late
  • All individuals entering county property will be required to wear a face mask
  • At risk populations or individuals are to complete services online or through mail
  • When arriving at the court house leave one parking spot open between you and others
  • Please be aware that you will be asked to wait outside the main entrance 6-ft apart until you are called in
  • Unless your appointment requires more than 1 individual from the household – please come by yourself to court house
