Why We Exist

This division provides the funding for contracting for fire and rescue services and for annual required contributions into the Old Hire Fire Pension Plan. Supports City of Durango Strategic Plan under Enhanced Livability and Sense of Place.

Key Functions

What We Do

Durango Fire provides an all-hazards service, consisting of: suppression of building, wildland and vehicle fires, emergency medical services/ambulance service including patient transport, rescue (water, rope, vehicle), fire prevention, fire code enforcement, public education, and hazardous material response, to a population of 53,000 in approximately 325 square miles of southwestern Colorado.
