Project #0305
50/50 Sidewalk Program
The location varies each year and by individual replacements
Project Information/Description
The City of Durango proposes to cost share with residential property owners in the replacement of damaged or misaligned public sidewalks through the 50/50 Cost Share Sidewalk Replacement Program. This program has proven very effective at repairing and improving deteriorated sidewalks throughout the community since 2012.
Project Details
Each year single family properties identify repairs needed and request assistance to replace damaged sidewalks. The program is prioritized based on application date. The program completes as many projects as possible under the $50k budget, typically 5-7 projects are completed each year. The $50,000 is typically expensed by the City and then residents reimburse the City for half the cost and are eligible to pay it over a 5yr period if desired.
In 2022, City Council approved $100k and Public Works combined the project with the Streets Division ADA replacement project. The project went to bid in spring of 2022 and no contractors responded to the RFP.
