North College Reconstruction

North College Drive from Florida road to 2603 N. College Dr.

Project Information/Description

This project is phase 1 of a 3-phase project spanning multiple years intended to redesign/reconstruction one of the major arterial roads in the City. The first phase is a $2,200,000 Reconstruction of North College Drive from Florida road to 2603 N. College Dr. This reconstruction provides several improvements to traffic calming, sidewalk improvements, updates to utility lines and designated bike lanes through a heavily trafficked corridor.

Project Details

The first phase of the project has been designed and coordinated with residents in 2021-2022. Features improved as part of the redesign/reconstruction include;

• Traffic Calming

o Installation of bulb-outs at intersections and mid-block

o Narrowed road section and travel lanes

o Median Island/Chicane ~30ft long

• Drainage

o Repairs to inadequate street drainage

o Combination bulb-out/rain gardens

o Water Quality Pond(s)

• Utilities

o Water & Sewer main rehabilitation

• Mutli-Modal

o Improved crosswalks

o Increased sidewalk widths

o 10ft shared multi-use trail in some locations

o Dedicated bike lanes

o Updated transit stop

• Other

o Increased landscaping and decreased impervious coverage
