Project #5054
Snow Removal Equipment Overhead Door Replacement
Durango-La Plata County Airport
Project Information/Description
The airport’s snow removal equipment facility has two large overhead doors used by heavy equipment when entering or exiting the building. The overhead doors were last replaced in 1992 and have reached the end of their lifecycle. Annual repairs to the doors are becoming cost-prohibitive and outright door failure would threaten access to snow removal equipment responsible for the safe operations of the airport during winter conditions. This project was bid and awarded in the fall of 2021, however material delays are expected to push the project delivery into 2022.
Project Goal/Benefits
This project is in alignment with the Strategic Plan objective of Ensuring An Effective Infrastructure Network. Specifically, the project addresses the aviation strategy of maintaining airport facilities to support all forms of aviation services. The maintenance of the airport’s snow removal equipment storage facility is central to the airport’s ability to provide a safe operating platform for aircraft utilizing the airfield.
