32nd Street Extended Detention Basin (EDB)
200ft west of the intersection of 32nd Street and Holly Ave, on the south side of 32nd Street
The 32nd Street Extended Detention Basin (EDB) Phase II project will add a regional water quality facility to the drainage system along 32nd Street. This project will improve water quality for approximately 300 acres of runoff area before it discharges to the Animas River. The area along Florida Road experiences some flooding issues, particularly at/around the Holly Ave intersection. By connecting the Holly Ave system, it should help alleviate flooding (improve level of service) along Florida Road and Holly Ave, as well as treat ~300 acres of upstream area, improving water quality. This is a regional facility so no specific development or group of residents is associated with it. It provides improved conveyance and water quality for everyone in the basin it serves. In 2019, the City received a DOLA EIAF grant for $417,500 to match the City’s funding. Design is complete & has been submitted to the State Dam Safety Office (DSO) for final approval. Advertisement for construction is anticipated later in 2022 with construction to commence later 2022 or 2023, with completion anticipated for fall of 2023. As such, the City has formally reached out to DOLA to request an extension of the grant deadline by 1-year.
This project will install several features to improve water quality (WQ) for the sub-basin of approximately 300 acres of minimally treated stormwater runoff.
