The Visual & Performing Arts (VPA) department’s mission is to unleash and nourish the inner artist in each child by developing creativity, persistence, cooperative learning, analytical thinking, sequencing, planning and memory. VPA is responsible for directing the arts programs available to students grades JK-12, including theater, dance, visual arts, instrumental, and choral music. VPA produces over 140 concerts and exhibits per year including full stage drama productions, concerts, art exhibitions, recitals, and outdoor events attended by over 25,000 guests.
Strategic Goals
- Increase inclusive visual and performing arts offerings by recruiting students from diverse backgrounds and neurodiverse students.
- Increase capacity to support CPS’s signature and robust schedule of afterschool programs and performances
