The Chief Operations Officer (COO) is responsible for the general administration of the operations of the public school district and supervises the following areas: Facilities/Plant Maintenance, Food & Nutrition Services, Safety & Security, the Student Registration Center, and Transportation. In addition to supervising the departments listed above, the COO is the district leader and liaison for capital improvement projects and other public works efforts by the City of Cambridge. The COO facilitates the federal and state reporting requirements, annual contracts, and School Committee policy recommendations related to school operations. The COO also serves as a member of the district’s collective bargaining team and serves as the Superintendent’s designee overseeing the appeals process for school assignment hardships.
