Title I, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), provides additional funding to schools with a poverty rate greater than 40%. All students at Title I schools benefit from increased resources including reading and math specialists, summer camps, family nights, and trainings for teachers and families. Title I places a special emphasis on the role of families in supporting student achievement. The monthly Title I calendar contains school and community-based activities, resources, and book lists.

Strategic Goals

  • Provide TLA Phonics training to strengthen the instructional capacity of teachers to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Collaborate with the Family Engagement Office to develop a series of parent workshops on topics relevant to adolescents.
  • Develop and implement a cohesive training for all new Home Visitors in the City of Cambridge in collaboration with the Birth to Grade 3 Partnership.
  • Diversify program materials, training, and staff to better reflect multicultural and multilingual communities.
