Fair Board (Department 525)

Tammi Schneider, Fair Board President

Description and Mission

The Fair Board is a group of Elbert County residents that are appointed by the Elbert County Board of County Commissioners. The purpose of the board is to plan and conduct the annual Elbert County Fair. The Fair Board raises funds for fair activities through sponsorships and plans all events that take place during the Elbert County Fair that is held during the first full week of August each year.

Goals and Objectives

Accomplishments 2022:

In 2022, the Board was pleased to provide a traditional County Fair open free to the public with no ticketed events or paid parking that focuses on celebrating and preserving our agricultural heritage and recognizing our talented 4H youth. Of note this year was that an outbreak of Avian Influenza across the Colorado resulted in changing how Poultry Shows judging and Showmanship were conducted. Based on the care taken, there were no known cases associated with the fair or flocks in Elbert County. Once again, we appreciate our always generous community for turning out in support of the kids resulting in over $600,000 earned at the Junior Market sale.

Goals and Objectives 2023:

The board will continue to build on its record of continuously success fairs and looks forward to the 2023 fair. Based on the Boards resources needs and anticipated fund-raising, the Board of County Commissioners will review funds availability in June to determine if additional General Fund Support can be allocated to fair activities.
