About the Child Support Services Department
The Colusa, Sutter and Yolo Regional Child Support Agency works with families to promote self-sufficiency and the well-being of children by establishing parentage and financial support.
Significant Accomplishments for Fiscal Year 2020-21:
In October and November 2020, the Colusa, Sutter and Yolo Counties Boards’ of Supervisors approved the regionalization of the three separate local child support agencies effective January 2021. The Regional Agency has created a new organizational structure and is working to fully staff the agency. Furthermore, training is being developed and delivered to Regional Child Support Agency staff to achieve new efficiencies with an ongoing focus on excellent customer service and program performance. Child Support collected 16% more than the prior Federal Fiscal Year.
Goals & Objectives for Fiscal Year 2021-22:
The Regional Child Support Agency intends to have the new organizational structure in place and staff trained to implement the integrated caseload model October 2021. We plan to implement a new IT platform, facilitating Regional Child Support Agency sharing the same email domain and Office 365 tenant. Furthermore, we plan to implement a new Regional Child Support Agency website.
Summary of Major Budget Changes:
With the implementation of regionalization, Agency costs will shift to Yolo County over the next five years, starting immediately. The California Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) will adjust the allocation of Colusa and Sutter to Yolo commiserate with the shifting costs. As a result, the amount of state and federal funds issued to Colusa will decline over the next several years. Upon complete implementation of regionalization and the transition of all staff to Yolo County, DCSS will issue a single regional allocation to Yolo County.
