Overview

The Administration Department works with all other departments, the community, and outside agencies to ensure that the City runs smoothly and the needs of the citizens are met. The City Manager carries out the day-to-day administrative operations of the government. The Assistant City Manager is charged with Economic Development of the City, and also oversees operations of the Opera House and the city owned Garner Field Airport. The City Secretary works closely with the City Manager, City Council, and the Mayor. The City Secretary ensures that all legal requirements are met regarding posting and publication of notices and is responsible for taking minutes at Council Meetings. The City Secretary acts as administrative support to the Administration Department. The Executive Assistant supports all employees in the Administration Department in whatever capacity is needed such as answering phones, scheduling meetings, and preparing documents. The Director of Human Resources coordinates all aspects of the employment process including hiring, benefits, insurance, retirement, payroll, employee recognition events, and creates an employee newsletter.
