PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
In August 2016, the School's Facility Improvement Planning Committee (FIPC) met and selected the following project “themes”, as the top Charlottesville City Schools (CCS) project priorities. In September 2016, the School Board reviewed and formally approved the following “themes” and a phasing plan for completion.
- Classroom Modernization
- Corridor Improvements
- Daylighting
- Auditorium Renovations
- Cafeteria Renovations
2017: On September 21, 2017, the School's Facility Improvement Planning Committee (FIPC) met and selected Classroom Modernizations as the highest priority project. The Committee recommended that work begin in the 4th grade classrooms, at all six elementary schools. Projects have since expanded in possibility to include media centers, and potentially multi- use spaces, as reflected by the needs of the individual school. The funds have been allocated as follows:
- Phase I Clark - FY18 = $1.0M....this phase is approved and funding has been appropriated.
- Phase II Jackson Via - FY19 = $1.0M....this phase is approved and funding has been appropriated.
- Phase III Burnley Moran - FY20 = $1.25M...this phase is approved and funding has been appropriated.
- Phase IV Greenbrier- FY21 = $1.25M...this phase is approved and funding has been appropriated.
- Phase V Johnson - FY22 = $1.25M...this phase is approved and funding has been appropriated.
- Phase VI Venable - FY23 = $1.25M...this phase is approved and funding has been appropriated.
- Phase V Walker PK Adjustments - FY24 = $1.25M
- Phase VI - FY25 = $1.25M
- Phase VII - FY26 = $1.25M
- Phase VIII - FY27 = $1.25M
- Phase VIV - FY28 = $1.25M

Prioritize efficient construction and maintenance of all community infrastructure and facilities, and ensure that infrastructure capacity is built and maintained in line with growth or declining demand, as appropriate.

Improve and maintain public school facilities to continue providing an excellent education to students.

Status: This is an ongoing program. Greenbrier and Johnson projects are expected to be in construction Summer 2023
