Overview

Revenue other than from Property Taxes and State Aid is known as Local Receipts. Our four primary revenue sources for local receipts are motor vehicle excise, rooms tax (traditional lodging), licenses and permits (including building permits), and fees (including Recycling Center & Beach stickers). The FY2023 budget projects that the Town of Brewster will receive $5,564,665 in Local Receipts.


Per the Select Board's financial policies, Short-term rental revenues are directed to the Affordable Housing Trust (50%) and Capital Stabilization (at least 25%) via transfers included in the operating budget. The Town has allocated 10% of these revenues to cover General Fund operating expenses directly related to the Select Board's Strategic Plan.
