Section II - General Government: 1921 Maintenance

The Maintenance Department extends the lifespan of Town buildings and facilities through routine maintenance and repairs. The Maintenance Department also provides excellent standards of custodial service in Town buildings to maintain a clean and safe environment for Brewster residents to enjoy.

• Coordinated the effort to install a new 80kw generator that supplies emergency power to the entire 22,000 square foot Town Hall facility.
• Implemented our first warming and charging station after a Nor'easter hit, with positive reaction from the community.
• Conducted self-inspections such as roof-self inspections, waterpipe freeze up, thermography (heat loss), cold weather guidelines, trip hazards in the work place.
• Begun using a sensor system program that helps to identify temperature loss and/or a water leak/infiltration in a designated area, tracked through a smartphone or tablet app - this ensures quick corrective action resulting in minimal loss.
• Painted the exterior of the historic Council On Aging building, built in 1883, to match the existing colors.
• Consulted with colleagues to continue best practices for preventative maintenance for all Town facilities.
• Regularly cleaned and sanitized facilities to maintain a healthy environment for all of our visitors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

• Beginning the first phase of the project to replace windows at Town Hall.
• Continuing an analysis of energy loss, awareness and corrective actions with Green Communities and Cape Light Compact.
• Helping to determine the future needs and objectives of the operation for the recently acquired Cape Cod Sea Camps property.
• Continuing to provide quality assurance to maintain a safe and healthy workplace.

• The budget represents a $103,055 (60.41%) increase over the FY22 budget.
• The Personnel Services line item includes the addition of a property manager for the Cape Cod Sea Camps.
• A Repairs & Maintenance Line Item was added for the Cape Cod Sea Camps properties.
