Emergency Communications Center
The Anoka County Emergency Communications Dispatch Center provides 911 answering and emergency dispatch services on a 24x7 basis for all residents and police, fire and emergency medical response teams in Anoka County. The existing dispatch center has been located within in the Government Center Complex since 1986. Due to increased service demand, expansion is required, which is not a viable option in its current location. Also, it is desired to consolidate the dispatch center, training center, and radio service workshop within one facility. A new Emergency Communications Center is being proposed, which is planned to be approximately 45,000 square foot hardened facility (in accordance with codes), with up to 32 dispatch workstations and 8 training stations. We will also maintain a backup facility in their current location at the Government Center. The project is planned to be designed in 2022 and completed by fall 2023. Funding is planned to be provided through the issuance of approximately $30 million in bonds.
