Project #0305
50/50 Sidewalk Program
The location varies each year and by individual replacements
Project Information/Description
The City of Durango proposes to cost share with residential property owners in the replacement of damaged or misaligned public sidewalks through the 50/50 Cost Share Sidewalk Replacement Program. This program has proven very effective at repairing and improving deteriorated sidewalks throughout the community over the years. Due to budget constraints, the program was suspended for 2019. It was reauthorized in 2020 and 2021 budgets. In 2020, three projects were completed.
Project Goal/Benefits
Each year single family property owners identify repairs needed and request assistance to replace damaged sidewalks. The program is prioritized based on application date. Each year the program completes as many projects as possible under the $50k budget, typically 5-7 projects. The $50,000 will be expensed by the City and then residents reimburse the City for half the cost and are eligible to pay it over a 5yr period if desired.
