Project Information/Description
Continued planning and initial Infrastructure phases of Durango Mesa Park in partnership with the Durango Mesa Foundation. This is a three-year initial phase to design and construct an approximately 800 acre bike park on Ewing Mesa. Project in 2022 is to include planning and design, natural surface trail connectors to Highway 3 and Horse Gulch, re-establishment of water well/storage tank/pump, initial landscape and irrigation, and electric connections. Future years will include build out of other infrastructure and bike park amenities. Durango Mesa Foundation is financially participating in this project as an overall partner. Amount requested in 2022 for this project is $1,260,000 which includes a 5% allocation to CIP Division.
Project Goal/Benefits
The stewardship of natural lands is supported by City Council Goals and specifically: ELSP: Expand Durango’s unique identity as a driver of enhanced quality of life and sense of place; and ESS: Improve environmental resiliency and encourage responsible stewardship of natural resources. Overall goal of this project is to begin the development of Durango Mesa Park with the initial phase of a Bike Park.
