Hillcrest View Park and Pioneer Park
Project Information/Description
$200,000 was provided in 2021 for park improvements at Hillcrest View Park and Pioneer Park. Neighborhood meetings were held with both neighborhoods in 2021. Project scope and designs have been developed. Improvements at Hillcrest View Park include replacement of the playground equipment, earthwork and paving modifications to provide accessible route from the sidewalk to the play equipment, and landscaping. Improvements at Pioneer Park include modification to parking to provide accessible parking spaces, parking area tree island, accessible paved route to the existing picnic pavilion, and landscaping. The playground equipment for Hillcrest View Park has been ordered with expected ship date in late fall of 2021. Construction work has not yet been contracted due to P&R development staff transitions. Request to re-appropriate $181,440 from 2021 to 2022 for installation of improvements which includes 5% allocation to CIP Division.
Project Goal/Benefits
The park system upgrades is supported by City Council Goals and specifically: ELSP: Expand Durango’s unique identity as a driver of enhanced quality of life and sense of place. Goal of this project is to update and renovate deteriorating park amenities and infrastructure.
